		The present will be delivered to you by Major David Franks of
		whose character & motives for coming to Europe you are
		undoubtedly already apprised. I am happy in introducing him to
		your personal acquaintance as I am certain I shall do you a
		pleasure, being a very agreeable companion & will be more So to
		you as he can give you a particular account of your friends &
		connections in America, with whom it Seems he was upon an intimate
		footing—Any civilities shewn to him I shall add to the numerous
		list of favors already confered by you on yr.

	pray give my affectionate respects to the Doctor who is I hope in
	good health & mention that being the other day at Segovia I was
	agreeably Surprised by the sight of a Conductor upon the powder
	magazine of the Military School. It was erected a few days since
	by the permission of the Governor Mr Le Compte de Lacy at the
	desire of one of his officers—The Clergy were of consequence
	Somewhat offended, as it was retiring from the Confidence they put
	in their patrons & Saints—I believe it to be one of the first in
	Spain, the spot very subject to thunder Storms, being at the Mouth
	of a horseshoe of hills—
